Welcome Back, Queen Serena.

While rewatching Gossip Girl for what feels like the 100th time, drowning in nostalgia and absorbing Chuck Bass’s colour palette (purple, pink, navy, grey… ssso hot!) — I realized how uninspired I’ve been by today’s digital world. (BIG NEWS)

Why do I keep rewatching my teenage obsessions just to feel something again.. it’s not like we’re short on culture or media — actually quite the opposite. But somehow, I never really feel connected to anything, and lately, not even to myself.
Radically speaking: I was f*cking L-O-S-T these past weeks (& I am indeed a true Autumn Girl, so can't even blame it on the seasonal change)

This eclipse season had me thinking: Where did all the IT Girls go? The Serenas and Blairs? The Chloë Sevignys and Alexa Chungs?

My most used Social Media Apps didn't really stimulate me anymore, and although I follow 1.4k people on Instagram, I barely scroll down my Feed. NOT EVEN the dopamine glitch (Pinterest) could do the trick anymore, so I've been asking myself: What changed? What is really missing here? And then it suddenly hit me: Exchange!!!!
It wasn't about the content at all, it was about sharing a connection with people.

For an introvert like me, connecting with others can be challenging AF, and although we communicate through tons of pictures and videos every day — there is no conversation happening around this mass of visual data. We like, save and forget. There is no real Community Building. No original thoughts. Nowadays, we have to be really careful what to actually consume. We need to curate through this volume of stuff, bc otherwise inspiration (kinda) turns into indifference.

I miss the simple days when coming home, reading Tavi Gevinson's “The Style Rookie” or creating mood boards for your friends on Polyvore.com (R.I.P) was the most fulfilling and educational thing you could do. When bonding with like-minded strangers under Tumblr posts were like meditation. When things had meaning and value

…but let's face it: We live in a different world now.

This blog is an experiment to bring back the exchange/output I so deeply crave — a place where ideas, obsessions, and maybe even a little drama can live again (my 13 year-old-self would be THRILLED to find out!).

So here I am: Starting to share my thoughts and advice and open up my own walls, to make creativity feel like collaboration again, instead of feeding into performative consumerism.
Let's hope for more SWAG in the future.

XOXO,
Lea
