It's been a while since I shared my thoughts in this digital diary. Mainly, because I've been on a break this holiday season and wanted to wait with the next post until after my Thailand vacation. I wanted to gather some more thoughts and impressions abroad, and not just write something to fulfill my own expectations.

On vacation, everything was simple, the world seemed okay. Heat. Bare skin. Bright colors. Motorbikes. Books. No Schedule.
Back home, reality hit me like a f*cking brick. Coming back to Berlin, in probably the coldest period we had in a long time, was a real downer. Hectic. Freezing cold. Doomscrolling. Grey.
I immediately had to catch up with my friends to cure the winter blues; and like always, we discuss the small and big feelings. This and That. And of course; Politics.
Because on top of the bleak weather here in Germany, there's something even more depressing going on: Conservative, right-wing politicians pushing agendas that normalize dehumanization and make entire communities feel unsafe again.
But while talking about the terrifying state of the world my friend Kijana said a very beautiful thing: To be Joyful is the Revolution.
And let's be honest, we sometimes find ourselves questioning if we're allowed to feel joy, when everything around us is falling apart. If it is morally tolerable? If we're betraying the suffering of others? It's very tempting to let these questions pull us into darkness.
But Joy is not escapism, it is resistance. And I‘m not talking about the „good vibes only“ program here.
I am aware that joy is not equally accessible to everyone. Safety, money, mental health, systemic oppression - all of these shape how much light we can let in. But precisely because of that, protecting small moments of joy becomes something political. Not as denial, but as fuel.
It strengthens our confidence as a collective. And when systems want us tired, anxious, and compliant, we have to resist internally in order to build something different. It's PUNK.
Maybe wearing our joy on the outside is the bravest thing we can do right now.

Obviously this also translates into fashion. Some of you may have seen my latest 2026 Trend Predictions, and it comes to no surprise that most of the trends we will be seeing, are references in correlation to the shift of the world. Fashion has always been political.
For example,
Ankle Spats & Huge Hats = These items are rooted in military aesthetics. In unstable times, we dress for structure - almost like uniforms for protection.
Shoulder Pads = We are taking up space again (especially women!). Physical posture translates to psychological posture.
Swinging 60s & Color Blocking = Visibility. Refusing to blend into the grey.
Lace = Post-war decadence. Fragility worn deliberately, not apologetically.
So this year, I refuse to shrink. I will wear the color. The cute brooch. The lace.
Not because the world is fine. But because it isn’t.
